Shotcrete cure monitoring

Real-time shotcrete cure monitoring for safe re-entry.

Safecrete embeds single-use wireless sensors into sprayed shotcrete during the normal spray cycle, tracking cure in real time, so crews re-enter tunnel linings and headings on measured strength, safely and early.

The sensor

A 20 mm sensor, sprayed into the lining.

A Safecrete Qube maturity sensor held in hand at a shotcrete face, its epoxy-encased circuit board and antenna visible

Safecrete is a single-use maturity sensor, 20 × 20 × 16 mm, encapsulated in epoxy resin so it survives spraying and the underground environment. One sensor per cubic metre reads the curing mix from inside the shotcrete itself.

  • 20 × 20 × 16 mm
  • Epoxy encapsulated
  • Wireless maturity sensing
  • Magnet activated
  • 1 sensor per m³

How it's deployed

From batch to reading in four steps.

  1. Activate

Swipe a magnet across one sensor per cubic metre to wake its reed switch.

  2. Add to the pour

Drop it into the sprayer hopper as the shotcrete is loaded.

  3. Spray as normal

Hand or mechanised spraying embeds it in the tunnel or heading lining.

  4. Leave a gateway

A gateway in the heading captures maturity data and backhauls it to the cloud.

The result

Real-time strength, and a light that says go.
